Last Friday night, we were honored to collaborate with Tina: The Tina Turner Musical and Conde Nast on a special event in support of RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual and domestic violence organization.
Before that evening’s performance of Tina, over 100 guests—including Billy Porter, Christian Siriano, Jeremy Pope, Katori Hall, Phyllida Lloyd, and Zac Posen—attended a special cocktail reception at the Terrace at the Times Square Edition co-hosted by Anna Wintour, Adut Akech, Cindy Bruna, Janet Mock, Joan Smalls, and Yara Shahidi. Amid the drinks and mingling, there were also impassioned speeches by the evening’s co-hosts, as well as sexual and domestic assault survivor Maxine Outerbridge.
Tina producer Tali Pelman addressed the guests, noting, “Tina often speaks of turning poison into medicine. This is the reason we are here tonight, in true Tina spirit: to celebrate survival, to celebrate the courage that it takes to speak out, and to celebrate that it is within our individual and collective power to create change.”
Following the reception, guests traveled to the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to enjoy that evening’s performance of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical. Along with all proceeds earned from the sale of special cocktail party/ticket packages, a portion of proceeds from that evening’s performance was also donated to RAINN.
