AKA NYC Celebrates 10 Years in New York

On August 17, 2010, AKA NYC was officially launched as a full-service agency. From a small and mighty founding team of seven with a focus predominantly in theater advertising, the agency has grown over the years to a diverse team offering deep and unparalleled expertise across the arts, entertainment, leisure and tourism sector, and now proudly represents some of the best entertainment and cultural destinations around the world, including global theater sensations Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, and Come From Away, and iconic cultural institutions such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Opera, Hudson Yards’ Observation Deck “Edge”, The Frick, Empire Outlets, and the New York YMCA​. Since 2012, AKA has sponsored a scholarship at the School of Visual Arts.
This industry-first event in 2015 ensured that the laughter from It’s Only a Play was shared with anyone and everyone in the heart of The Big Apple, with an interactive billboard that live-streamed photos right into Times Square.
Our 2015 campaign for Matilda embodied that wonderful feeling you get when you dream about being a child again.

In 2016, our team traveled to Gander, Newfoundland, the location of the Tony Award-winning, Come From Away.
In 2016, we served up a delicious treat to celebrate the launch of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: an award-winning integrated campaign that showed Willy Wonka arriving in New York, turning the city into a confectionary wonderland.
In 2018, our clients won big at the Tony Awards, including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Best Play), The Band’s Visit (Best Musical), Once on this Island (Best Revival of a Musical), and John Leguizamo’s Latin History for Morons (Special Tony Award).
In 2018, we launched our experiential offering with an industry event at The Whitby Hotel in NYC. This new department positions us to adapt to the changing advertising landscape for the next decade and beyond.
In 2019, we took over Times Square with a first-ever billboard domination featuring the new branding for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
In 2019, we became the agency of record for The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
