The news of Lea Michele being cast Fanny Brice in Broadway’s FUNNY GIRL had the internet on fire since Beanie Feldstein announced her departure, and the new spot featuring Lea in the role has further fanned the furnace, with views skyrocketing within minutes of release.
The role is an iconic one and Lea’s intro had to hit multiple needs, including proving she has the chops to take on this legendary role and fan anticipation for her performance.
The black and white teaser shot documentary-style over the course of several actual rehearsals, showing the Glee alum—who performed a handful of Funny Girl songs as her character Rachel Berry on the Fox series—preparing for the role, connecting with her castmates and, finally, belting the roof of the recording studio with her rendition of “I’m the Greatest Star.”
The spot launched on Broadcast and Social on Friday 8/18, tracked over 1 million organic views on official channels within the hour and is currently trending with over 7 million organic views across IG, TW, TikTok and Facebook. Earned impressions continue to climb with widespread coverage of the trailer.
